Interestingly, the adult Clothes Moth does not feed or do damage. The
feeding and damage to wool, fabrics, furs and other protein based materials
is caused by feeding larvae. Clothes Moth larvae are shiny, white worms
that measure about 1/2 inch and reach maturity anywhere from 35 days
to 2.5 years. Adult Clothes Moths have narrow, fringed wing and are
yellow-brown in color, also about 1/2 inch long. Adults live from 15
to 30 days.
Clothes Moths prefer dark spaces and will quickly flee if disturbed.
Females will lay up to 200 eggs.

When examined with a hand lens, little tufts of hair
are evident on the heads of Clothes Moths - food and grain moths do
not have these tufts.
