Fall Tips - Controlling Rodents &
Spiders
Rodent Prevention
First and foremost, taking the right steps to prevent
a rodent infestation should be taken. Those steps
include:
- don't allow pet foods and bird seed to accumulate
in your yard, garage or anywhere around the house
- make sure wood piles and vegetation are away from
the side of the house
- ensure that your trash bin have secure lids, and
don't over fill them
- turn over your compost pile regularly to check that
rodents haven't infested it - the love compost
If you’ve identified that you have a rodent infestation,
contact Halt Pest Control for help in managing and controlling
the problem.
Fall Spiders
Fall is the season when spiders begin to appear more
frequently in and around the house. Those spider webs
up in the corner of the ceiling can be an eyesore, but
remember that when it comes to pests, spiders (most
of them anyway) are our allies, as they feed on other bugs.
If you don't want those webs floating around, simply
take a broom and sweep them away. There's no real need
to call a pest control specialist to take care of them.
One of the more impressive spiders you'll see during
the Fall is the Orb
Web Spider, most commonly found in
your garden and shrubs surrounding your home. While these
spiders can grow quite large, they are harmless to humans.
Unless they create a web that is directly in pathways
or doorways to your home, leave them be and enjoy watching
them through the window and looking at their webs on
a damp morning when the water and sunlight illuminate
them.
